Easy Ways to Organize Bathroom Cabinets

Bathroom Cabinets

Disorganized items take up a lot more space than those that are carefully sorted out and put in their own special areas. If your bathroom cabinets are filled with clutter, here are some ideas to help you get organized and get that mess under control.

Floor cabinets are easiest to organize. These tall, roomier cabinets are often meant to hold larger items. I like to arrange from the bottom up. Use the lower shelves to hold things that are bulky and could possible leak or spill. If they do spill, the leak will make it to floor but spare anything on lower shelves. The next tier up can hold folded towels and washcloths or spare rolls of tissue. Use the top tier shelves, usually smaller, for items like hand cream, deodorant and other personal hygiene items. Try to avoid putting items on top of the cabinets unless they're decorative. The idea is, after all, to eliminate clutter.

In wall cabinets, use the small, limited amount of shelving carefully. Again, taller spill-able items get the bottom shelf and then work your way up. As you organize, go through your OTC and prescription medicines and supplements. Throw out any that are expired. That makes more room for other stuff in the cabinet. Also, combining the ear swabs and cotton balls in a single container takes up a lot less space.

Finally, we come to the big open cabinet beneath the sink. For this area choose square or rectangular plastic or wicker baskets to hold smaller items. Keep them organized by types and keep them neat.

Like any other area of the house, keeping the clutter at bay requires constant work. Still, if you have bathroom cabinets, you want to make the most of that precious extra storage. Organizing the contents can make that happen.
